What happens when we die?
Exploring Heaven and Hell
This section offers a glimpse into heaven and hell according to Christianity. For further details on Christianity, explore the history of Christianity and why there are different denominations of Christianity, plus the origin of religion. These videos below explain the afterlife from a Christian perspective, which does line up with all accounts of Near Death Experiences (NDE's) that many have encountered. Catholic Christians believe before entering Heaven we go through a final purification, a sort of washing away the residue of sin, in purgatory. This doctrine has become a hot topic, as purgatory is not mentioned in the Bible, although some books do tell us to pray for the dead. Some Christian denominations don't include these books in their Bible versions, as they don't follow this doctrine. Either way, this is a very small part of the Catholic belief and does not change the fundamental Christian belief that Jesus died for all our sins and by accepting it we are covered by His grace.
